HOW TO GROW POTATOES!!

Hello and welcome to or back to my blog!! This week We had to write an explanation text and I chose to write about how to grow potatoes in a bucket.

Here's my plan:

Here's my writing:

How to Grow Potatoes In A bucket

Do you know how to grow potatoes in a bucket? If not this is the place for you. I am going to be explaining how growing potatoes in a bucket is very easy and similar to growing them in a garden. First we need to learn what potatoes can be planted and when to plant them.

When your potatoes are ready to be picked the potato plant above the soil will be wilting so don’t get worried if it starts to, it just means the potatoes are ready. Pull out your plant by the stem and there will be one big moldy potato that was the one you started with, that one is definitely not safe to be eaten. There will probably be some really small potatoes. If they are really small don’t eat them because they aren’t safe. But unless they look moldy, wrinkled or mushy, all the other potatoes are okay.

Planting potatoes:

When you are growing potatoes you can’t just throw a potato into some soil. You need to make sure the potato is a seeding potato. If it is a seeding potato it will have small green sprouts coming out of the potato. Once you have your seeding potato, grab a bucket then drill small holes in the bottom of it. These are drainage holes. Fill your bucket 15cm high with planting mix. Then plant your potato and cover it with more soil. Water it every 4-5 days when you have just planted, this will stop it from drowning. After 6 weeks water it every day or two.

When it starts growing:

When it starts germinating a small green sprout come out of the dirt that means it's alive. Just keep doing what you're doing. It takes about 3-4 weeks for it to start sprouting if It’s not sprouting you might be over watering it, under watering or it might be too cold. If it is under watered the soil will become dehydrated and it won’t grow. If the soil is too wet then the plant roots will drown and die. The same goes for if it's too cold. If it is growing, it should be done in 12 to 16 days.

Once it’s ready to be picked:

When your potatoes are ready to be picked the potato plant above the soil will be wilting so don’t get worried if it starts to, it just means the potatoes are ready. Pull out your plant by the stem and there will be one big moldy potato that was the one you started with, that one is definitely not safe to be eaten. There will probably be some really small potatoes. If they are really small don’t eat them because they aren’t safe. But unless they look moldy, wrinkled or mushy, all the other potatoes are okay.

I hope this helped you learn how to grow potatoes. Potatoes are very easy to grow, probably one of the simplest because they don’t need much care. Just make sure they don’t get too cold, too wet or too dry.

6 C's I showed at camp

For writing this week we had to write a short paragraph about 2  6 C's that we showed at camp. I chose Character and Comunication.
Here It Is:

When have you showed character or communication?

Converting Decimals

For math this week we had to convert decimals into fractions into percentages. It was kind of hard at first but then I got the hang of it. I chose to make a how to poster on converting them.

Here it is:

I hope you learnt something new
Can you convert 5/10?

Interesting Instructions!

Hello and welcome back to my blog.

For writing and reading we learnt about instructions. So first we had to read some instructions and see what we got.

I ended up with a hut. I had lots of fun building it and my cats enjoyed sleeping in it.
Then we had to write our own instructions. I wrote mine about making you bed which hopefully you already know how to do.

I hope you liked my blog.
How often do you make your bed?

Super Shapes

Hello!

For math this week we got to make 3d shapes out of toothpicks and bluetack. I had lots of fun doing this.

What shapes would you have chosen?

Covid Cases

Hello and welcome back or to my blog!

This week for math we had to collect data and make a graph and two statements, then we had to put it all on an infographic. I chose to do mine on covid cases. These are not true becuase there is no cases in Canterbury.

Here it is:

I hope you learned something new.
Do you know anything on statistical investigation?
